Setting up cart goals

Set target amounts, rewards and bar messages in your campaign.

Last updated: November 5, 2026

Cart goals define the rewards shoppers unlock when their cart reaches a certain amount: free shipping, a cart discount or a free gift. Goals are set inside campaigns.

1. Open the campaign

Open Campaigns from the left menu. For a new campaign, click Create campaign in the top right corner, or open your existing campaign from the list.

  1. 1Create campaign
  2. 2Open the campaign

2. Edit the goals

Go to the Goals tab. For each goal, set:

  • Reward: The reward type, such as a percentage cart discount, free shipping or a free gift.
  • Target amount: The cart amount that unlocks the reward. Amounts are in your store currency and measured on the cart subtotal before discounts; taxes, shipping and free gifts don't count.
  • Messages: The text shown on the bar before and after the goal is reached. Use {amount} for the remaining amount and {count} for the remaining number of items.

  4. 4Message before reaching

You can switch a goal off temporarily with its enable toggle and reorder goals with the arrows.

3. Save

When you change a value, Shopify's save bar appears at the top of the page; click Save. If the campaign is active, changes sync with Shopify automatically; there's no separate publish step.

  1. 1Changed target amount
  2. 2Click Save (Kaydet)

4. Check your storefront

The bar on the product page shows the remaining amount and what this product unlocks when added to the cart.

How should I pick the target amount?

Start slightly above your average order value. If the target is too high, shoppers won't try to reach it; too low, and you're rewarding orders that would have happened anyway. If you use several goals, leave a sensible gap between them.
